Bleed extends artwork past the trim on every edge; the safe area keeps text and logos clear of the cut. Exact specs also appear in the upload preview once you select a size on the product page.

Anatomy of a print file

Extend backgrounds to the bleed edge, and keep important content inside the safe area.

  • Trim line
  • Safe area

Bleed edge

Extend your background and edge-to-edge color 0.125" past the trim so there are no white slivers after cutting.

Trim line

Where your print is cut to its final size. Avoid borders — a slight cut shift makes them look uneven.

Safe area

Keep text, logos, and anything important inside this margin so nothing gets trimmed off.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are common flyer sizes?

Popular flyer sizes are 5.5" × 8.5" (half-letter), 8.5" × 11" (letter), and 11" × 17" (tabloid). Each is listed below with bleed and safe-area specs.

What resolution do posters need?

Aim for about 300 DPI at final print size. Large posters can accept slightly lower effective DPI since they're viewed from farther away, but 300 DPI is the safe target.

Do posters need bleed?

Yes — extend edge-to-edge artwork 0.125" past the trim on every side, just like smaller formats. The upload preview confirms full coverage.
